Improvement conditions of primary health care in some medical institutions in Eastern Ukraine will be financed at the expense of German Government
In early July, USIF signed cooperation memoranda aimed to improve conditions for provision of medical services in 12 primary health care institutions.
With signing of these documents implementation of ‘Promoting social infrastructure development. Improvement of basic rural health (USIF VII)’ Project enters its active phase.
German Government provided Ukraine through German Development Bank KfW with a grant in the sum of EUR 14.45 million for this Project.
The Project is implemented by the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund (USIF) in cooperation with local communities and management of primary health care institutions.
Cooperation memoranda were signed between USIF, initiative groups (subprojects implementation partners), as well as owners and balance holders of objects, which had been selected on a competitive basis and approved for implementation as subprojects of the first stage.
The list of subprojects of the first stage includes the following institutions:
Kharkiv region
1. Primary health care center (PHCC) of Zachepylisky district, urban type village Zachepylivka;
2. Outpatient clinic of general practice and family medicine (OCGP) of PHCC № 3, urban type village Bezludivka;
Dnipropetrovsk region
3. Verbyvativka OCGP of Varvarivska village Council PHCC, village of Verbyvativka;
4. OCGP № 6 PHCC № 5, town of Kryvyy Rih;
Luhansk region
5. Central outpatient clinic of Bilokurakyno district PHCC, urban type village Bilokurakyno;
6. Outpatient clinic № 3 of Lysychansk PHCC № 2, town of Lysychansk;
Zaporizhzhia region
7. OCGP of Kyrylivka urban type village Council, urban type village Kyrylivka;
8. OCGP № 2 (Unit 2) of Melytopol PHCC № 2, town of Melytopol;
9. OCGP № 4 of Melytopol PHCC № 2, town of Melytopol;
10. OCGP of Chernigivka PHCC, urban type village Chernigivka;
Donetsk region
11. OCGP № 3 of PHCC № 4, town of Mariupol;
12. OCGP № 1 of PHCC № 1, town of Kramatorsk.
Within the framework of this Project, it is envisaged to finance energy-efficient renovation of premises and supply of medical equipment for 40 primary health care institutions.
Thus, another 28 medical institutions where infrastructure and equipping are to be upgraded in the course of the Project will be identified soon.
The project also provides measures for comprehensive capacity development measures for physicians, heads of medical institutions, officials responsible for health care management in the partner communities, as well as representatives of health departments at the regional level.
In addition, Project funds will be utilized to finance procurement of medical equipment and materials needed to provide more effective counteraction to spread of COVID-19 disease by partner clinics.
It is expected that about 42,000 residents of the Project area, covering Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions will get direct benefits from its implementation.
