On 3 August 2021, the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund, State Educational Institutions “Vocational School #44 in Myrhorod", “Higher Vocational School №7 in Kremenchuk", “I. H. Borovensky Reshetyliv professional agrarian lyceum" and the Poltava Regional State Administration signed memoranda to modernise the infrastructure of those educational institutions. This cooperation will take place in the framework of the project "EU4Skills: Modernisation of Vocational Education and Training Infrastructure in Ukraine”, which is a component of the large-scale EU programme "EU4Skills: Better Skills for Modern Ukraine". It is funded by the European Union and implemented by the German State Development Bank KfW.
“EU experience has shown that vocational education is an opportunity for young people to fully realise their potential. Therefore, we are confident that the participation of three institutions of Poltava region in the EU4Skills programme will contribute to the training of qualified personnel to meet the needs of the labour market. And it will also be an impetus for the development and increase of the prestige of institutions not only in the region, but also in Ukraine in general," said Frederik Coene, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Ukraine.
According to the signed memorandum, repair works and purchase of equipment worth EUR 950,000 are planned at Vocational School #44 in Myrhorod. With these funds, the training laboratories of the institution will be updated and equipped for training of the professions “Car repairman" and
"Electromechanic for repair and maintenance of electronic medical equipment."
The plan envisages repair work and purchase of equipment worth EUR 1 million at the Higher Vocational School #7 in Kremenchuk. With these funds, the machine park of turning and milling workshops will be updated, as well as computer numerical control (CNC) machines. The equipment of the office-laboratory of CNC machine operators, as well as general-purpose machine operators, will also be updated.
According to the signed document, the I. H. Borovensky Reshetyliv professional agrarian lyceum plans to purchase agricultural machinery and equipment worth EUR 800,000 to train students in the following profession: "Master of operation, repair and maintenance of agricultural machinery.
"The professions for which the equipment will be upgraded are in high demand in the Ukrainian labour market. Therefore, we expect the project to have a positive impact not only on the quality of educational training of students, but also to meet the needs of the real sector of the Ukrainian economy. Such Memoranda are expected to be signed in the near future with institutions and regional authorities of other regions participating in the Programme’s pilot,” said Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Ihor Harbaruk.
"Nearly 3 million euros for the modernisation of the infrastructure of three educational institutions in Poltava region is a significant contribution to the development of vocational education in the region. Thanks to the help of the European Union, we will upgrade the material and technical support of facilities, equip new laboratories, and purchase new equipment. I am convinced that this is just the beginning of positive changes," added Oleh Synehubov, head of the Poltava Regional State Administration.
