Implementation of USIF VI Project is in progress: two educational institutions were renovated by the beginning of the new school year
By the beginning of the new school year, construction works were finalized in the kindergarten "Kazka" in Pershotravensk, Dnipropetrovsk region and in the secondary school № 3 in Kreminna, Luhansk region in the framework of implementation of "Promotion of social infrastructure development (USIF VI)" project.
On September 1, those institutions welcomed children and teaching staff in premises with new energy-efficient windows. The construction works were carried out ahead of the schedule due to effective cooperation between contractors, facilities owners and USIF.
According to the manageress of "Kazka" kindergarten Olha Trifonova, subproject implementation will allow to reduce heating costs and save money on the use of thermal energy by 18-20%, as well as to provide comfortable conditions for children and staff in the kindergarten.
26 objects in total, including 13 residential as well as 5 schools and 8 kindergartens, are being restored under USIF VI Project.
As of the end of September, construction works are underway at 8 sites. Works at 2 sites are already finalized. In relation to the remaining 17 subprojects, preparation for construction works is carried out (completion of designing activities and tender selection of contractors).
In addition to that, USIF conducts a variety of work to develop local communities capacities. For example, this summer, two comprehensive programs, namely: ‘Legal support to IDPs and local governments program, which will run until December 2021, and the Program to promote IDPs and local residents employment, scheduled to be finalized in August 2021, were launched for all 11 partner communities of USIF VI Project.
Elaboration of Severodonetsk and Izyum development strategies for the years 2021-2027 and plans of their implementation was initiated.
Numerous other training and counseling events, including: trainings on project management, on effective interaction of local governments with NGOs, on effective conflict resolution, on psychosocial support to IDP families, career guidance activities for students, art therapy classes for adolescents and many others, were conducted for members of partner communities.
