Modernization of the outpatient department of Berestyn town hospital is finalized
The solemn opening of the outpatient department of Berestyn town hospital (Kharkiv region), renovated with the use of grant funds of the German Government was held on June 18, 2025
The opening ceremony was attended by Berestyn town mayor Svitlana Kryvenko, USIF Executive Director Andrii Laktionov, representatives of local self- government authorities and community members.
The modernization of the outpatient department facility envisaged major repairs of the first and the second floors. The premises were completely renovated through replacing of external and internal doors, redecorating the interior and modernizing of engineering networks, including the water supply, sewage system, heating system, electrical system, low-voltage systems, and lighting. The supply and exhaust ventilation system was installed in addition.
Accessibility for persons with disabilities and other low-mobility groups was ensured based on the principle of universal design. Information signs and tactile and visual accessibility elements were installed, and the toilet rooms were equipped with staff call buttons. Two inclined lifts were installed to provide unobstructed access to the second floor for people in wheelchairs.
The total cost of the construction work and related expenses exceeds UAH 30,000,000. Additionally, a series of training sessions were conducted for management and medical staff to improve the level of patient care.
The renovated department will employ 30 doctors and 70 medical staff to serve over 110,000 community residents.
The outpatient department's modernization was carried out within the framework of the ‘Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development. USIF VIII’ Project, which is being financed by the Government of Germany through the German Development Bank (KfW) and is being implemented by the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund.
