The laboratory of Kryvyy Rih Infectious Diseases Hospital No. 1 has been modernized with the use of funds, provided by the German Government

The solemn opening of the clinical and diagnostic laboratory of the Kryvyy Rih Infectious Diseases Hospital No. 1, modernized with grant funds of the German Government, was held on April 15, 2025. The event was attended by the Chairman of the Kryvyy Rih Defense Council Oleksandr VILKUL, Director of the First USIF Regional Office Serhiy KARATANOV, representatives of local/self-government authorities, hospital management, local public organizations and interested local residents.
The laboratory underwent major renovations on a total area of over 730 m2. In particular, the building facade was insulated, the pitched roof was overhauled, blind areas were installed, windows, interior and exterior doors, water supply and drainage networks, heating system, lighting and electrical equipment were replaced, a ventilation and air conditioning system was installed, interior finishing works were carried out, and plumbing was installed.
The total cost of construction work with associated expenses is about UAH 40 million.
To improve the quality of bacteriological examinations, modern laboratory equipment and furniture for the sum, exceeding UAH 50 million, were purchased for the laboratory.
A simple shelter with a total area of 257 m² which can accommodate up to 200 people at the same time, including 30 bedridden patients, was arranged as well. Functional medical beds were purchased for that purpose. The shelter was equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation. The floor, walls, and ceiling were renovated. The electrical network and lighting system were replaced.
Series of trainings for management and medical staff were conducted in order to improve the provision of services for patients in addition.
The renovated laboratory will employ 7 doctors and 15 middle and junior medical staff, serving to over 515 thousand residents of the city and surrounding areas.
The modernization of the laboratory was carried out within the framework of the "Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development - USIF VIII" Project, which is being financed by the Government of Germany through the German Development Bank (KfW) and is being implemented by the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund.
