The renovated Inclusive Resource Center in Baltska Community of Odesa Region has been solemnly opened
On June 1, 2023, on Children's Day, Baltska territorial community (Odesa region) and the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund officially opened the new premises of the Inclusive Resource Сenter, renovated and equipped with modern furniture, office equipment and tools for providing social and educational services to children.
It became possible due to the World Bank Project "The Community-Based Social Service Delivery" Project, being financed from the grant funds provided to Ukraine by the Government of Japan through Japan Social Development Fund.
The total cost of the micro-project implementation in Baltska territorial community equals to 140,000 US dollars.
According to the set tasks, the activities of Inclusive Resource Center encompass:
- carrying out a comprehensive assessment to identify special educational needs of a child, development of recommendations regarding the training program;
- provision of psychological and pedagogical assistance to children with special educational needs;
- provision of consultations and interaction with teaching staff of preschool and school educational institutions on matters of organization of inclusive education;
- provision of counseling and psychological assistance to parents.
As part of the micro-project implementation, an overhaul of the warehouse facility to be used as the Inclusive Resource Center premises was carried out. The said overhaul included arrangement of new walls, their insulation, plastering, painting, replacement of the floor, installation of doors and windows.
The cabinet of a practical psychologist, a speech therapist teacher, a room for sensory-motor development (furniture, tables for specialists, tables for children, chairs, games and toys), where specialists can provide psychological-pedagogical and correctional-developmental services to children with special educational needs, was equipped. In addition to that, a nurse's office and a sanitary-hygienic room were repaired and furnished.
3 laptops, 3 printers and the Briolight S interactive floor, which has 80 programs, were also purchased for the institution with grant funds.
The Center provides services for children with severe speech, hearing, visual, intellectual impairments, musculoskeletal and autism spectrum disorders and for other children with special needs.
It is expected that the Inclusive Resource Center will become a place, where children can get quality education and professional assistance and find new friends.
