Universal design in the community: space, objects, information and services
The booklet "Universal design in the community: space, objects, information, and services" was created as part of the program "Inclusion in Communities," which is implemented as part of the Project "Promotion of Social Infrastructure, USIF VI."
The booklet includes:
- • a description of the diversity of human nature and the life cycle, which is fundamental to universal design;
- • a definition of universal design and related concepts such as accessibility, special design, and intelligent adaptation;
- • an explanation of the seven universal design principles and four universal design tricks;
- • practical advice on how to develop a public space, objects, information, and services based on universal design principles.
The booklet is addressed to local government authorities working in urban planning, architecture and housing, social protection, health education, and etc. The booklet will also be valuable to architects, designers, communication professionals, marketers, managers, people whose professional activities involve the provision of information and services, and anybody interested in universal design.
