Germany provides Ukraine with EUR 20.5 million to build infrastructure in vocational education
The German government has allocated a grant of €20.5 million to establish Vocational Excellence Centers under the Vocational Education and Training in the Eastern Partnership II program.
On June 11, 2024, the relevant grant and project agreement was signed in Berlin, within the framework of the Ukraine Recovery Conference. The agreement was signed by Member of the Executive Board of KfW Member Christiane Laibach, Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Oksen Lisovyi, and Executive Director of the USIF Andriy Laktionov.
According to the signed Agreement, the grant will be used to upgrade the infrastructure of vocational schools, provide equipment and machinery for training laboratories and workshops for the relevant professions, and introduce modern curricula.
Thus, this project will not only modernize the infrastructure, tools and methodology of the Centers of Professional Excellence, but will also support young people in realizing their potential and contribute to the post-war recovery of Ukraine, increase the attractiveness of vocational education institutions, which will also have a positive impact on the economic development of Ukraine.
For USIF, this is the second project in the field of vocational education development in Ukraine. Since 2023. USIF has been successfully implementing the project “Vocational Education in the Eastern Partnership” worth EUR 20 million.
