EU allocates ca. EUR 2 million for infrastructure modernisation of two vocational education institutions in Rivne region in the framework of the EU4Skills programme

On 4 August 2021, the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund, State Educational Institutions “Rivne Higher Vocational School of Restaurant Service and Trade”, “Higher Vocational School №22 in Sarny”, the Rivne Regional State Administration and Rivne City Council signed memoranda to modernise infrastructure of the education institutions. This cooperation will take place in the framework of the project "EU4Skills: Modernisation of Vocational Education and Training Infrastructure in Ukraine”, which is a component of the large-scale EU programme "EU4Skills: Better Skills for Modern Ukraine". The project is funded by the European Union and implemented by the German State Development Bank KfW.

 "We are pleased to welcome Rivne region among the seven regions that will participate in the Programme. We expect that EU experience and financial assistance will help not only modernise the infrastructure of Vocational Education institutions, but also support young people in realising their potential,said Frederik Coene, Head of Cooperation at the European Union Delegation to Ukraine.

According to the signed memorandum, the Rivne Higher Vocational School of Restaurant Service and Trade plans to carry out repair works and purchase equipment worth EUR 1.6 million. With these funds, training laboratories for the following professions will be updated and equipped :

- "Master of hotel services (qualifications: floor manager, maid, administrator)";

- "Master of restaurant service (qualifications: waiter, bartender, hall administrator)";

- "Food raw material and product cooker".

According to the signed document, the Higher Vocational School №22 in Sarny plans to purchase road construction machinery and equipment worth EUR 800,000 for training students in the profession "Road machinery operator".

"I hope that the students of these Vocational schools will be able to see the results of this initiative as soon as possible. After all, young people are one of the priority groups whose interests Government policies are aimed at. The Ministry of Education and Science fully supports the implementation of international initiatives that contribute to improving the quality of training in vocational education institutions. We are grateful to our partners for the provided resources and hope for the successful implementation of the project,” said Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine Ihor Harbaruk.

 "Rivne region is one of the leaders in the number of educational and practical centres among the regions. I am convinced that they will become drivers in the training of a qualitatively new workforce, provide our economy with qualified personnel, and reduce unemployment," said Vitaliy Koval, head of the Rivne Regional State Administration.
