The EU has modernised Drohobych Higher Vocational School №19 under the EU4Skills programme
On December 3, the official opening of renovated and newly equipped training workshops at Drohobych Vocational School #19 took place as part of the third component of the “EU4Skills: Better Skills for Modern Ukraine” programme.
The institution underwent major renovations, covering a total area of 420.7 m², and was provided with state-of-the-art professional equipment worth over EUR 600,000.
“The implementation of new technologies, modernisation of premises, and procurement of equipment in vocational education institutions in Ukraine are significant steps toward ensuring high-quality teaching and practical training of students. This will contribute to training of skilled professionals to meet labour market demands at the regional and national levels and support the country's recovery. We are delighted to celebrate this new stage in the development of Drohobych Vocational School #19,” emphasised Henrik Huitfeldt, Head of the Public Finance, Business Support and Social Policies Section at the EU Delegation to Ukraine.
The project included the modernisation of classrooms and dormitory workshops, replacement of windows and doors, installation of a ramp, upgrading of the heating system, replacement of internal engineering networks (water supply, sewage, electricity, and lighting), installation of ventilation, fire alarm systems, and low-current networks, as well as landscaping of the territory.
To enhance training for professions such as "Information Processing and Software Operator," "Hairdresser (Hairdresser-Stylist)," "Manicurist," and "Makeup Artist," the school received:
- 473 units of computer and network equipment;
- 337 pieces of furniture;
- 401 units of beauty salon equipment and tools.
“Due to the full-scale war, many international partners are refusing to continue joint projects that we initiated before 2022. In this context, it is even more valuable to realise that there are those who, despite all challenges, remain in our country and complete what we started together. I sincerely thank the EU, the "EU4Skills" programme, the German Development Bank KfW, and the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund (USIF) for this excellent result. Ukraine is currently experiencing an acute shortage of skilled personnel. We are working to ensure that the Lviv region becomes an example of how to develop modern vocational education and provide students with relevant knowledge and skills,” said Maksym Kozytskyi, Head of the Lviv Regional State Administration.
Volodymyr Marynkevych, Director of Higher Vocational School №19, expressed gratitude to the partners for their assistance and support: “Thanks to the EU4Skills programme, we have been able not only to improve the quality of the educational process but also to give children new opportunities for development, learning, and self-realisation. We are confident that our students will gain high-quality knowledge and the necessary skills for their future. We sincerely appreciate your trust, support, and shared commitment to positive change.”
