USIF HAS PRESENTED ITS RESULTS ON THE NATIONAL CIVIL SOCIETY DEVELOPMENT FORUM
On November 29, in Kyiv, consultant for capacity building and training Kateryna Dergachova and senior community development consultant Hanna Aladzalyan participated in 7th Civil Society Development Forum. The topic of 2018 Forum was “Dream 3.0. Projected Influence”. According to the organizers (The Initiative Center to Support Social Action "Ednannia"), more than 2000 participants have discussed current issues and trends of the civil society development in Ukraine.
During the meetings with the national civil society leaders Kateryna Dergachova and Hanna Aladzhalyan informed them about USIF’s results in developing partnership with communities, which were participating in Project "Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development. USIF V". Also civil society activists have been informed about a new Project "Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development. USIF VI".
During the last two years the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund has significantly broaden its cooperation with the Ukrainian civil society sector and international organizations. Thus, within the framework of the “Decent Work” Employment Promotion Program in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions, 460 persons, including 201 IDPs, have undergone series of trainings on career guidance, launching and running businesses, job search. 54 persons have been retrained. 47 of them already use newly acquired skills at work.
Within the framework of the “Communities’ Social Capital Development” Program, 367 persons attended series of integration and training events. The Program gave a boost to new internal processes in participating communities, including development of new projects and initiatives, communities amalgamation, establishment of new partnerships, identification of new leaders, strengthening mutual trust among different stakeholders and enhancement of motivation for active participation in public life and processes.
Also, 126 kindergarten teachers from Kyiv and Lviv have mastered new working methods within the framework of “Persona Doll” training, envisaging application of unique pedagogical approach to social and psychological development of children. There are Ukraine’s civil society representatives who have been engaged to the implementation of the mentioned programs.
It is worth to be reminded that on November 20, in Kyiv, Deputy Executive Director of the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund Oleg Ovchinnikov and consultant for capacity building and training Kateryna Dergachova attended presentation of the "Analytical review of regional programs for provision of housing for internally displaced persons". The authors of the report are representatives of the Charitable Foundation "The Right to Protection" and the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
Having analyzed the state and regional housing programs for internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Ukraine, the Foundation for human rights protection of and the UN Refugee Agency highlighted the distinct efficiency of the Project "Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development. USIF V", which is being implemented by the Ukrainian Social Investment Fund with the use of the grant funds of the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany provided through the German State Development Credit Agency - KfW Bank. The said Project, in comparison with other programs, appeared to be the most productive in provision of IDPs with social housing in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions.
