USIF Supervisory Board launched implementation of new projects
USIF Supervisory Board meeting was held in Kyiv on 30th of October 2018. The Supervisory Board approved two Annexes to USIF Operational Manual, thus, launching implementation of new projects by USIF.
The first of them is ‘Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development. USIF.VI’ Project. This new Project, as a previous one, is aimed at provision of housing for internally displaced persons (IDPs) through renovation (reconstruction) of existing facilities. In a proximity to each housing facility for IDPs, a school or a kindergarten will be renovated in accordance with German energy efficiency standards. ‘Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development. USIF.VI’ Project will be implemented in accordance with the signed Financial and Project Agreement between Ukraine and Germany of April 19, 2018. The amount of the grant from the German Government for USIF VI Project is 9 million euros. These funds are provided through German Development Bank - KfW and intended for Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv regions and for districts of Donetsk and Lugansk regions, which are under control of Ukrainian government.
The second one is ‘Community based social service delivery’ Project. Grant funds in the amount of USD 2,85 million is provided by Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) through the World Bank trust fund. Japanese donor funds will enable creation of new models of social services provision in 30 amalgamated territorial communities of Odessa and Ternopil regions. Two stages of the Project implementation are envisaged. At the first stage, community members will receive support from consultants, analyze their needs and resources for social services provision. Potential providers of such services, including community members themselves, will receive appropriate training, and organizations that already provide such services will receive advisory support and equipment. At the second stage, each of 30 communities will compile an application for implementation of a microproject to create an innovative model of social services provision. Specially established at the Ministry of Social Policy of Ukraine Committee for microprojects selection, with USIF and project coordinators from the regional state administrations assistance, will identify 10 best applications. For each of them up to 140 thousand USD will be allocated in order to fulfil necessary repair and construction works, procure corresponding equipment and services.
Apart from that, USIF Executive Director Andriy Laktionov reported to the Supervisory Board members on the state of implementation of the plan of USIF activities for 2018 and its budget in the III quarter of this year. It was mentioned, in particular, that at the reporting period within the framework of implementation of the current project ‘Promotion of Social Infrastructure Development - USIF.V" with the use of grant funds of the Government of Germany construction works had been completed at 9 objects. Namely, in town of Krasnograd in Kharkiv region the social housing facility for internally displaced persons and the kindergarten had been repaired. In the town Dergachi, construction works had been finalized at the gymnasium while in the town of Izium – at the school building. In Dnipropetrovsk region in the town of Kamianske school number 42 had been insulated. In addition, repair works had been completed at 4 Kyiv pre-school educational establishments, where 11 group premises for 235 children had been created.
