The Project objective: creation of a modern vocational education and training infrastructure that increases the attractiveness of vocational education and training among students and creates a basis for effective education, focusing on skills in occupations that are in demand on the Ukrainian labour market.
Territory of implementation: Poltava, Mykolaiv, Vinnytsia, Rivne, Lviv, Chernivtsi regions.
The current Project status
Currently, 13 VET institutions (schools) are planned to be modernized under the Project. Modernization of 8 VET schools envisages construction works execution and procurement of equipment. 5 VET schools are to be modernized by equipment supply.
As part of modernization of 8 VET institutions, located in Chernivtsi, Vinnytsia, Rivne, Drohobych, Stryi, and Kremenchuk, design and estimate documentation is developed and tenders for procurement of construction works are held. The tender proposals evaluation reports within 5 subprojects are prepared and contracts for construction works execution are signed. As of now the dismantling works at the facilities of the institutions are completed already, reconstruction works are in progress.
In the course of modernization of the vocational training institution in Chernivtsi, sewing equipment for the workshops is purchased. The suppliers of machine tools for the workshops of VET school in Kremenchuk is selected and the contracts are signed.
In order to modernize VET schools of Zastavna, Reshetylivka, Nova Odesa and Myrhorod, some agricultural machinery, including harvesters, grain, corn and sunflower harvesters, tractors, pneumatic seeders, trucks, etc., is purchased and delivered. Some construction (including road) equipment, namely: backhoe loader, bulldozers, truck crane, grader, excavator, is procured and supplied to Sarny VET school.
In agreement with KfW and the Project Beneficiary, a part of the project funds are allocated for implementation of an emergency aid package for IDPs, providing for procurement and supply of furniture, electrical goods, textile products, etc. for furnishing the dormitories of some VET institutions. In connection with the russian military aggression against Ukraine, measures on modernisation of 2 VET institutions of Zaporizhzhia region remain suspended. Because of the invasion and its consequences, there is a lag in the implementation of the Project measures.
